Summary

Part of a package of 5 bills which rewrites and replaces the legislation currently providing for the administration of Australia’s offshore petroleum resources the bill replaces the Petroleum

(Submerged Lands) Act 1967
and provides for: the grant of exploration permits, retention leases, production licences, infrastructure licences, pipeline licences, special prospecting authorities and access authorities; and occupational health and safety provisions, including the operation of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority for their administration.
